    <summary type="text">Title: E-RESOURCE PROMOTION IN ACADEMIC LIBRARIES IN GHANA: UDS IN  CONTEXT

Abstract: This study examined the various ways academic libraries in Ghana promote their e-resources to &#xD;
patrons. The study employed the survey research design using a quantitative approach. The &#xD;
population of the study included 64 library staff (professionals and para-professionals) of the UDS &#xD;
Library. A sample size was not extracted from the population hence, a census was conducted. A well&#xD;
structured questionnaire was administered to respondents through Google Forms. Responses were &#xD;
analyzed and represented in tables and pie charts with the use of Microsoft Excel. The findings &#xD;
revealed that the UDS Library management engages in various cost-effective activities such as &#xD;
training workshops on e-resources and how to access them, webinars and seminars on the various &#xD;
e-resources and their value in research/academic work, creating social media handles such as &#xD;
Facebook, Twitter, and a YouTube channel where videos on the library services and resources are &#xD;
uploaded to guide users. Fliers and posters are also placed at vantage places to draw user attention. &#xD;
However, the UDS Library suffers some challenges in their attempt to serve their patrons with &#xD;
updated information materials. Some of these challenges include limited budget funds allocated to &#xD;
the Library, weak internet bandwidth, electricity fluctuations that sometimes spoil gadgets, limited &#xD;
or no time allocated to the Library during university and SRC programmes, and poor participation &#xD;
of students and faculty in programmes organized by the Library.</summary>

Abstract: The study examines marketing practices in some selected academic libraries in Ghana which include; Sunyani, Tamale and Accra technical university libraries. The study relied on both qualitative and quantitative methods of data collection. Two hundred and eighty-four (284) students and twenty (20) professional library staff of these universities were studied. The data collected through questionnaire was analyzed with the use of SPSS whiles that of the interviews were recorded, transcribed and interpreted. The findings of the study revealed that the techniques and tools used by these universities were found to be inadequate and social media tools were highly not considered. Inadequate facilities, lack of funds, lack of staff and knowledge of staff in marketing and lack of marketing policies were identified as major challenges faced by the selected libraries in promoting the use of their services. Some recommendations were however suggested and include; advocate for more facilities and funds for marketing, increase number of staff and skills in marketing and develop best marketing policies, tools and techniques for effective promotion activities in their libraries. The study shall be useful to academic libraries and more especially to TUs in terms of policy formulation such as informing library management of the challenges facing their libraries in carrying out promotional activities in their libraries.</summary>

Abstract: The spread of misinformation and fake news has become a significant problem in recent years. While this issue is often discussed in the context of politics and social media, it can also have serious consequences for academic research. This study aims to examine the impact of misinformation and fake news on the quality of academic research. This study examines the impact of misinformation and fake news on the quality of academic research, particularly in terms of its influence on the research process, bias, dissemination of findings, and trust in research. Using a qualitative research methodology, the study will employ a literature review to examine the existing research on the subject, analyse the ways in which misinformation and fake news can affect the quality of academic research, and identify potential solutions to mitigate the negative impact. The study will examine how researchers can be influenced by fake news or misinformation and how it can impact the research process, lead to biased research, and affect the dissemination of research findings. This study highlights the critical need to address the problem of misinformation and fake news in the academic research community. By doing so, we can help to safeguard the integrity of research, promote the dissemination of accurate and reliable information, and maintain the public's trust in the scientific community. The paper further proffers some recommendations to help combat the menace of misinformation and fake news in academic and research activities.</summary>

    <summary type="text">Title: USE OF SOCIAL MEDIA BY STUDENTS OF TAMALE TECHNICAL UNIVERSITY

Abstract: The study investigates use of social media by students of Tamale Technical University in Ghana, with faculties of Business (FoB) and Applied Science and Technology (FAST) selected for a case study. The objectives of the study include; types of social media platforms used by students, reasons for the use of social media by students, the level of exposure of students to social media sites. A sample size of 280 out of a population of 934 of third year 300 students were participated, out of which 272 (97.1%) of the questionnaire were retrieved. The findings of the study revealed that the most frequent use of social media tool by students of Tamale Technical University was WhatsApp. Entertainment and up-to-date information were found to be some of the reasons Tamale Technical University Students use social media. Correspondingly, the study revealed that students spent much time on social media which could affect the amount of time they spent studying. The study recommended that restriction of social media use during classes time. It also recommended students to allocate much time for their studies and use of social media for the right purposes, particularly academics.</summary>
